Before can you start gathering data, you will first need to start a new document by opening or scanning an image of your graph.
Next, you will need to tell ScanIt how the pixels on your screen translate to coordinates in your plot by defining your axes.
Once this is done, there are three modes in which you can gather data:
The data you have gathered, you can then manipulate your data, and use you data in other applications.
